• Hi,

I am suddenly unable to log in to my website. I am unsure of which copy of wordpress I have, but the website has been up since 2011. The last time I tried logging on was July.

I am able to log in to edit the website, but as soon as I log in it says web page is unavailable on internet explorer AND on google chrome. The website, however is still up and it works.

I was wondering- do I have to pay a fee to keep it going? I took over editing of the website about a year ago. If so, where do I need to go for that?

What else could be going on?

    Thanks!

WordPress is free to use, you don’t have to pay us anything, but you do need to pay your hosting provider. If you are current with them, then you have nothing to worry about with regards to that.

As for your login troubles, try manually resetting your plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

There shouldn’t be any fee to access certain areas of your website, such as the administrator side.

This error sounds like it may have automatically updated and caused a theme or other file conflict. Have you discussed this issue with your hosting provider? What did they say? Can they reproduce the problem?

I am able to log in to edit the website, but as soon as I log in it says web page is unavailable

Please explain. You are able to log in? What do you click on to get that message?
