Works, but still shows old URL in bar after log in

Yes, after logged into into admin the default wp-admin path will be come again.
Here we are protecting the admin from hackers (for guest user only),so no one quest user access the wordpress login page. Due to wordpress default security region we can’t rename wp-admin path it after logged into admin.

Are you talking about register the new quest user from login page?

Generally on worspress site we have used the registration plugin (i.e membership) for register or login to user on the site.so i wan suggest you that you have need to also use a seprate plugin for register OR login on the site.

If you are a developer then you can make it comfortable with BuddyPress by change in code and add some new code.

I have realed new version with some extra features , New version is comfortable with BuddyPress, you will have need only to update the register/login/lostpassword links as per new admin url.

So please update your exist plugin to latest.
