• I keep getting this message when I try to log in. I enter my username and password and get this:
Warning: main(admin.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/shop/public_html/#########/wp-admin/index.php on line 2

Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘admin.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/shop/public_html/#########/wp-admin/index.php on line 2

Recently I deleted over 1000 “core” files that had somehow been dumped into my blog folder. I’m afraid I may have thrown something else out, but I’m not sure what. The blog is running, but I can’t get to the dashboard.

I have a back-up version from about a month ago.

    Anybody have any ideas?

There are 3 files in the back-up of the wp-includes folder that do not exist in the wp-includes folder showing on the site. They are:
    class-IXR.php
    class-pop3.php
    class-snoopy.php

These exist inside the site wp-includes folder, but not in the back-up folder:
    registration-functions.php
    template-loader.php
    images folder
    JS folder

Should I put those 3 class files in?

Well, I’m still getting this message:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare check_admin_referer() (previously declared in /home/shop/public_html/########/wp-includes/pluggable-functions.php:228) in /home/shop/public_html/#########/wp-admin/admin-functions.php on line 474
even after adding those 3 missing files.

Anybody have any idea how I can get back into my dashboard?

Does anybody understand what the above message means?

So, we’ve reloaded /wp-admin from your backup, right?
Have we reloaded /wp-includes from your backup yet?

Frankly, if THAT doesn’t do it, then I’m thoroughly stumped.

I didn’t reload the whole wp-includes folder from back-up. Just the 3 missing php files.

I’ve uploaded the the wp-includes folder, and still nothing. I’m afraid I may have to re-start the blog, and then import archived posts, but I’m not sure how to do that.

I just wanted to report that after doing a database and file back up, I upgraded the damaged blog’s wp version, and that seems to have fixed the issue. Thank’s for the tip HandySolo ??
