• I went to add content the other day and got the white screen of death. I have tried all suggestions within these forums and still not getting anywhere. Just a run down here is what I have found.

*replacing wp-admin folder = no change still the WSOD
*replacing wp-content folder = no change still the WSOD
*replacing wp-includes folder = no change still the WSOD
*replacing wp-config.php file = no change still the WSOD
*replacing wp-login.php file = no change still the WSOD
*replacing index.php file = no change still the WSOD

*Checked wp-config.php file for blank spaces, had none = no change still the WSOD
*renamed theme and tried to default to twentyfourteen = website didn’t default but no change still the WSOD.
*checked database on server for oddball items = no change still the WSOD
*renamed plugins folder = no change still the WSOD

I’m going on day 2 here of pulling my hair out. Any suggestions will help.

    my site is https://www.josephsalmi.com
The frontend site loads but backend does not. I am however logged into the site because I have the admin bar at the top. Clicking any of the links defaults to the WSOD.

  • I am having the same problem. My site is gone! Was doing an update from my dashboard and now I can do nothing. Have no idea what to do.

@kimschory – please start your own thread – it’s unlikely your site is identical to Joe’s.

@joesalmi – try enabling debug to see if you get any errors – https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Debugging_in_WordPress

Notice: Undefined index: page in ../wp-content/plugins/visitor-maps-extended-referer-field/visitor-maps-extended-referer.php on line 527

I disabled both plugins via FTP, refreshed, it cleared the notices but still WSOD.

I can’t find it… I’ve replaced just about every file on my server and nothing is working. I am about to give up and delete the whole thing.

    Hi Joe,
Is your plugin folder renamed – i.e. pluginsHOLD – try that.

Do you have any caching on your site and/or server?

This is what I see on your site:

    Reading index.php page.

I have disabled the plugins folder already and it didn’t make a difference currently it is active however I have about 4 or 5 plugins deactivated. What you see right now is a PHP code displaying the page name because I was trying to track down the error. That PHP code is on my WP-config.php page.

I have caching disabled currently. Also I thought it might be a data base connection error so I double checked that and everything was correct.
