Can’t Log In to Admin Dashboard (Redirected)

  • Hello,

    All of a sudden I was not able to log in to the admin dashboard using /wp-admin. When I enter the correct log in credentials, it loads the log in page again with a redirect link. I have tried to log in using the /wp-login.php page and it still didn’t work.

    I do have access to the FTP files but I am not familiar with that side of things. I should be able to follow directions for them though.

    I do not think there were any plugins installed right before this started. I can’t log in on Firefox or Internet Explorer either.

    Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    Hello,

    I tried to follow the steps of changing the plugins file name in the FTP settings and I still could not log in. Then when I went to change the plugins file name back it asked if I wanted to override plugins.

    – Please check the error logs on your server for a more specific error message and see why it’s failing. If you need help locating them, ask your hosting provider to help you with that.
    – If you cannot find error logs or if you don’t find any helpful info in the error logs, try Enabling debugging

    I will try investigating the error log next, thank you. In the mean time, should I override plugin to change the file name back?

    Edit: I found another file folder titled plugins in another folder with a different set of plugin files.

    Will it erase the files in the other plugin folder?
    First time gave me the override warning, second time it did not.
