• Hi, I’m fairly new to WordPress. I’ve been using MAMP and theme Evolve making a website. I’ve been denied logoin once before getting a stripped down login page.
This is the second time I got thrown out of WordPress. I can’t log in anymore.
    What I’m getting is this:

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Last thing I tried was in dashboard settings to change the url with an extra ‘/news’ to have it try to start on the news page.

I’ve looked thru the forums at permissions and re-installing wp and theme. permissions I can’t figure out were to change that and re-installing doesnt work.
last time I re-installed and redid everything.

    Please help.

  • You’ll need to change the URL’s back:

    Thanks WPyogi,

I’ve read the link and tried the following first:

Changing the URL directly in the database. problem was i couldn’t find

Look for the home field in the table and click Edit Field. Note There are several pages of tables inside wp_options. Look for the > symbol to page through them.
In the input box for option_value, carefully change the URL information to the new address.
Verify this is correct and click Go to save the information.

I now did get the normal login again, but couldn’t log in.

    Then tried Edit wp-config.php

Nothing changed, but i noticed that I could go directly to my url https://localhost:8888/mywebsite/

It lacked pictures etc and clicking menu buttons resulted again in

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

I also tried to put in a new ‘unique authetication key’ in wp-config.php
    Maybe that screws it up?

So probably one step forward, two steps back…

After reading what seemed like a zillion posts and suggestions I still couldn’t get my login to work.

A friend suggested to backup the theme folder and replace it with a newly downloaded one (I’m using Evolve). And VOILA!!!

Still not quite sure what caused the occasional weird dashboard look, but for now I’m over the moon.

    Thanks
