Can’t login now – Redirect error

  • I can’t log in to my blog now (it was working), but the actual site comes up okay.

    Tried IE, FF, and Chrome, and on 2 different computers.

    It’s at https://www.ExecutiveOnlineProfiles.com, and hosted at HostGator, using Headway theme.

    When I try https://www.ExecutiveOnlineProfiles.com/wp-admin – FF says:

    The page isn’t redirecting properly. Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

    This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept
    cookies.

    When I try https://www.ExecutiveOnlineProfiles.com/wp-login.php,
    I get to the login screen with my username pre-filled and blank password (which was saved).

    When I put in my password – FF comes back with the same redirect error.

    Nothing has been changed..

    I found an article on the support site that described several things to try including siteurl in database, deleting plugins, checking htaccess file, and more. No help in this case.

    Rebooted, cleared cookies and temp files.

    Any help would be much appreciated. I desperately need to get access.

  • you need to back track and think what you changed recently…

    or a plugin could be acting up
    ftp to site or use host’s file manager to rename /plugins folder
    this will deactivate all plugins
    if you can now log in, rename plugin folder back, activate plugins one by one until you find offender

    if that doesn’t work, rename your theme (active theme) folder
    this will bring up default theme
    if you can log in now, you know it’s a theme error
    you will need to rename your theme back to make it available again

    I’d already deleted all the plugins, and still got the same error.

    I’m using Headway theme. When I renamed it and tried to login, it now tells the database needs to be updated.

    Is this okay and will I lose anything? Can I do this “update” and then switch back to my active theme?

    I did it. Now the site doesnt come up at all – blank screen on every page.

    I can log in and see the pages, but when I preveiew any ot them, I get blank screen, too.

    Sigh…

    I forgot to rename my theme back, now it seems okay, but it should have come up with the classic theme, no?

    the default theme should come up
    did you get a success message on the upgrade?

    Yea. that’s what I though. And yes, I did get a “success” message.

    I guess I’m all set now, after I renamed the Theme back.
