• Hello,

I’ve checked other threads but thought I would start my own.

This is a problem that has been existing for a while with WP as I’ve come to understand. And the problem is that I can’t login!! And I can’t change the password either. I’ve tried to send a new PW but I only get “Sorry, this key is no good m8” and it’s freaking me out.
Whenever I try to log in the page now simply refreshes. If I enter the wrong PW a message comes. So I know the PW is correct. At first I thought I got hacked.

I tried the emergency.php and it said I got the wrong admin username (yea, right, as if I couldn’t write “admin” correctly)

I tried phpMyAdmin and couldn’t change the password there.

I don’t know MySQL and FTP isn’t working properly either. So if there was something that I could do via FileManager (Hostgator Hosting) I would appreciate it. Renaming themes/plugins? I don’t know how that would help but if someone can kick its ass for me I’m up for it.

    Thanks,
    Philipp

    Hello AJ,

Thanks for your help. I’ve seen that article and tried most solutions except MySQL/FTP/WP CLI and can say now that the password doesn’t seem to be the problem. I can change it. But the one problem still remains. “Whenever I try to log in, the page now simply refreshes.”

What could be causing this and how to work around it?

    Regards,
    Philipp

Update: I now can log in by renaming the plugins folder and deleting db.php and object-cache.php. When I log out again and change it back I have the same problem again (obvious though).

Can I live without those php files or will the system generate new ones? I also deleted the W3-Total-Cache folder.

Sounds like you have a plugin that is causing your issue. I would disable all plugins including caching plugins. Then enable plugins one by one. saving any caching plugins till the end. Then activate one plugin at a time till you find the culprit.

What is the path to the files you are asking about (db.php and object-cache.php)?
