Starting from last week I can’t get into the Dashboard/Admin panel. This happened out of the blue and I did nothing out of the ordinary. The blog has been running for at least 2 years with no problems. I tried adjusting the password using PhpMyAdmin; I deleted the wp-login.php file and uploaded a fresh one; I tried to reset using email. None of this works.
So now I can’t write posts, can’t field comments. Can’t do anything.

    The blog is blog.gts-translation.com

    Thanks in advance for help

Thanks. I get “ERROR: The password you entered for the username admin is incorrect. Lost your password?”

Can you try resetting your password in the database again but this time, follow the steps outlined in https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/phpmyadmin/

Thanks but it does not work and I followed it to the letter

That sounds like database damage. Have you tried repairing your database’s tables?

Thanks esmi, I played around with that now and did a repair operation on all the blog DB tables. It said that it worked but still the problem persists. I should add that the blog displays OK just the Admin does not. Can you be more specific on what repair operations to make?

When you add the new password, are you MD5 encrypting it?

    yes I am

Have you checked your server’s error logs for clues?

I am not an expert in sysadmin so don’t know what logs to look for. I have WHM Cpanel, what should I look for?

Try looking for any errors relating to the MySQL server.

Hi @esmi, now the PhpMyAdmin is showing that the wp_user and wp_usermeta tables are marked as crashed and should be repaired. But it does not let me repair these tables. Questions: (a) if I truncate these tables will I be able to login as Admin. (b) I have old backups of the database. Should I try and restore the two damaged tables from their? What do you think I should do?

Hi, I managed to solve this issue using a workaround: (1) I registered as a new user; (2) I assigned the user with Admin rights in PhpMyAdmin; (3) I changed the password of the new Admin user in PhpMyAdmin. Now I can access the Dashboard. Thanks, David

now very simple, go do PhpMyAdmin find user, admin , and set new password, choose Md5 when u save the new passwords

Hi @latenitesero, thanks. I tried that but it did not work. I had to create a new Admin user. I have no idea why this happens but as long as I can access the Dashboard it is a good solution for me.
