• I have a WP site I’ve used for years. I’ve never had trouble logging in to my wp-admin page until the last two days. If I try to navigate to “lccut.org/wp-admin” I get one of two responses: 1). The most common response is “Gateway Timeout”. If I try repeatedly to reach wp-admin I eventually get the expected WP page requesting username and password. But after entering this data and performing the CAPCHA thing, I just get a spinning cursor for up to a minute and then the Gateway Timeout error message again. One one rare occasion I actually got to my main admin page. But I could navigate no further.

I’m not sure of my WP version since I can’t get to that information, but I think I’m using the most current version.

The only thing that has changed since I was last able to login is that my hosting service was changed by my streaming company. But the tech support there says that nothing has changed that should cause my login problems.

    Any help is greatly appreciated

  • I would recommend deactivating the plugins that secure your login in order to be able to log in again. Since you can’t log in in the backend, you have to do it via FTP. Log in via FTP and look at the directory names under wp-contents/plugin/. There you should find a directory called “captcha”. Delete that. Afterwards you should be able to log in again (this time without the captcha protection).

If you need help working with FTP, contact your hoster’s support.
