• So I thought I would be proactive and install Better WP Security plugin to block “Brute force” attacks on login’s last night.
All seem to go well (installed on 4 sites) – this morning I noticed an email notification on one of the sites that it had been locked down for thirty minutes so I look and now I can’t get to the backend of my site, so I tested the other sites and all but one I cannot login and get to the backend?
I enter my login credentials and all it does is refresh the screen and go back to my homepage(s).
On one of my sites (that is a test site) I went into the FTP and renamed the plugin’s folder and now I can get into the backend – but not sure that is the proper way to get out of this situation?

The only settings I allowed in Better WP security was 404 blocking and brute force attacks and Away mode (but that time as passed)

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Hello.

You mentioned you managed to get into the backend by renamed the plugin. Have you tried to re-enabled or reinstall the plugin again? Is it still block your login?

Usually you can gain your login back by:
    – Removing the lines between #BEGIN #END section of Better WP Security in your .htaccess file.
    – Rename the plugin’s folder.

But if you want to reset the plugin’s setting, you need to access your database and manually delete some data. This thread has the information how to delete the plugin’s information in your database:

I just re-installed a backup that I made previously to installing Better WP Security.

    I might try atain later.
    Thanks for the information.
