• I cannot log into my site. I have the limit login plugin installed and assumed that was the problem. I had my host disable it which they did but I still can’t login. I went into PHPMyAdmin and changed the password, since I can’t get into the site and tried the WP reset feature (multiple times) and is not working. I noticed a “purge” option in my host’s cpanel for that database. Would it be a good idea to try purging the database or would that make it worse? I did setup a new user account (non admin) and was successful.

    Thanks in advance.

Your database contains all of your settings and content (posts, pages, comments, etc), so purging that would be a very bad idea.

What error do you see when you try to log in?

I get something like “you have given the wrong password. You have two remaining attempts to login.” (this even though limit login attempts has been disabled). Thank you. Don

WordPress doesn’t delineate whether the password or username is wrong, just that something is wrong.

Perhaps you have the username wrong?

Find phpMyAdmin in your hosting account’s control panel, and follow these steps: https://www.ads-software.com/documentation/article/reset-your-password/#through-phpmyadmin

Both change the password and take note of what the username and email address are saved as.

And, follow the steps exactly, it’s more complicated than just entering the desired password and saving.
