• I am no longer able to log into the admin area for one of my WP sites. It is a basic WP with no plugins installed except for the default ones on the installation. It is either running 3.5 or higher. I found a couple threads of similar issues but they all pertained to individuals using specific plugins involving permalinks or SEO tools. Neither of which I have installed. Does anyone know how I can access the wp-admin area to make sure everything is updated properly or to make the site operational.

As of right now my host locked out the site since they claimed the number of redirect requests that were generating crashed the server.

  • Many hosts experienced problems due to mass attacks recently and temporarily disabled access to wp-admin and/or wp-login.php as a result. Your hosts may be one of them. Try contacting them about it.

I have other sites on the same host/server and can access the wp-admin login page.

However, thanks for the article from hostgator. I will be changing all my passwords and putting together a htaccess file to only allow access to the wp-admin from my networks.

Having a few sites with the same hosts does not mean that they are all on the same server. Have you contacted your hosts yet?

But these are. They are all part of a virtual private server I have with them and all have the same public IP address.

Any assistance on how to get my base installed WP wp-admin to function properly would be greatly appreciated.
