  • You haven’t explained why you cannot login…

    I explained all I know, which is that it redirects back to the login screen.

    Is your username/password rejected? Does the redirect happen after you have entered your username/password? The more details you can provide, the likelier you are to get a solution. Or at least a semi-decent suggestion…

    Yes, the redirection happens after I’ve submitted the form. The username and password appear to be fine, because WordPress DOES still alert me if I get them wrong. When I submit the login form, all that apparently happens is that the page refreshes. But I don’t know if this is an issue with WordPress or 1and1.

    @esmi,
    Good to see you back in the forums:)

    @citizensheep: Can you try:
    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and the wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

    @tara: Thanks – though I don’t expect to be here every day. ??

    I’ve tried all that. I just got a message along the lines of ‘No update needed, database is already up-to-date’.

    So you uploaded a completely fresh set of WordPress core files? Did you remove all of the old files first?

    I’ve tried fresh installations (twice), flushing all the caches, creating new wp-config and wp-login files, removing the plugins and non-default themes, and moving location in case it was a network/filewall issue.

    I removed everything the first time I did it, but I can try doing that again.

    Do NOT try moving locations! That will only make things ten times worse.

    creating new wp-config and wp-login files

    Creating a new wp-login.php file?
