• So as of this morning when I try to login to one of my WP sites, which does not use any plugins for the login page, instead of the usual v2 checkbox i’m getting a message “reCAPTCHA V1 IS SHUTDOWN” in a box that looks similar to the old V1.

Where it says “Type the text”, well theres no image to type text from other then the banner that says “reCAPTCHA V1 IS SHUTDOWN”, which I tried to type that but it failed to login anyway saying “The reCAPTCHA wasn’t entered correctly. Please try it again.”

No idea how it got reverted back to V1 (if it even did) but with this right on the default WP login page, I can’t gain access to the dashboard to try and figure out what caused this.

I searched all over and people are just saying to go into wp-content/plugins and just rename the plugin that is causing the issue. Well this is all default, so there is no plugin. So now what?

Thanks again all for the help!

    Sure can: site link

Your Theme “mxp_base_theme” – I do not see it in the official WP catalog.
It is possible that reCaptcha is built in Theme.

you can try 2 experiments first:
    1. Open site via FTP and rename folder …/wp-content/plugins/login-area to …/wp-content/plugins/_login-area
    then try Login.

    2. Open site via FTP and rename folder …/wp-content/plugins/jetpack to …/wp-content/plugins/_jetpack
    then try Login.

If that doesn’t work, rename the folders back. And you can try to disable the Theme “mxp_base_theme”.
But you need to be sure that in the folder …/wp-content/themes/ there are available original WP Themes.

The mxp_base_theme is a theme to use Adobe Muse inside of WP. I have this on a couple sites but those sites are still fine and on V2 of reCaptcha like this one was.

I changed the login-area, jetpack, musexpress plugins… did not help.
I changed the folder “mxp_base_theme” under themes… that did not help either.

Could maybe the reCaptcha Keys have changed back to the V1 keys somehow and thats why this problem is popping up? If so, I have the V2 keys, but where would I go to replace the V1 keys with V2?

    Thanks again!

Could temporarily disabling htaccess help? change .htaccess to htaccess.txt?

    Could temporarily disabling htaccess help?

    Are U Crazy?

Not at all… bypass whatever captcha is screwing up by setting structure to default “wp-admin”. Disable it, and turn it back on. The RECAPTCHA issue MAY be in your htaccess. Don’t know, just things to look at.

Just tried changing the htaccess… didn’t help it.

    Other thoughts?
