Can't login when "Limit Login Attempts" plugin is active

It’s not possibile to login anymore, although I used the right data for sure. False password gives me error message, right username/pw cobination reloads homepage but doesn’t direct me to the dashboard. Loading the dashboard with direct link didn’t work either, so I’m just not logged in.
Tried different accounts, different OS (Mac, Win7, ios) and ips. I deactivated all plugins via ftp and switched them on one by one – limit login attempts definitely causes this issue. I’m not sure since when it happens, I updated last week or so to wordpress 3.6.
Anybody else with these kind of problems?
