Can't open administrator panel to edit site

  • I was just prompted by wordpress to upgrade to the latest version. So, I went ahead and did so. Immediately there were problems. I can on longer get into the administrator panel to make edits. Here is the message that I get every time.
    Safari can’t open the page.

This might occur if you open a page that is redirected to open another page which then is redirected to open the original page.

  • I followed the steps in the link, made the changes.
    I was able to open Admin page.

    My site is unrecognisable. What do I do now?? How do i restore it? How do I add back the theme and the plugins?

    Any suggestion?

    Every theme isn’t compatible with all versions of WordPress. Moving the theme and plugin aside has caused your site to work again which means that your theme and/or plugins are not compatible.

    You can try contacting the theme creators and see if they have another version of the theme or can help you iron it out until it works with WordPress 3.0+, otherwise you will need to look for another theme which will work for you instead, or tweak the twentyten theme to do what you need. Twentyten is very customizable.

    As far as plugins go, search for the same plugins again. If they are compatible with WordPress 3.0+ then install them again, if not, search for an alternative plugin to do what you need.

    I’m back to normlal with a new version of Headway, and adding back the plugins one by one… to see who’s the culprit. This is more work than I need righ now… but thanks to your suggestion I’m on my way.
