Can't Open General Settings on Any Sites

    I can’t open the General Settings on any of my sites. When I try to access them, the page never loads and times out. Can anyone help? (Please keep in mind that I am not a tech or developer. I have limited knowledge of programming.)

    I believe you are unable to open General Settings at wp-admin. Try following suggestions:

    1) Try different browser OR clear the browser cache, cookies and then try to access General Settings.

    2) If this does not fix your issue try Deactivate All Plugins Through cPanel

    Login at cPanel, Under Files section, Go to File Manager.
    Select Web Root (public_html/www) and click Go.

    Expand the public_html folder, and navigate to the /wp-content/plugins folder.

    Right click on the /wp-content/plugins folder and rename it like plugins.old. This will deactivate all of the plugins at once.

    Now, reactivate plugins folder again by renaming back to plugins. This will allow you to access the WordPress Dashboard again.

    If you are able to access the General Settings again, activate plugins one by one until the General Settings cannot get accessed again. When it does, you’ll know the culprit plugin.

    No problem opening the General Settings in Firefox, so the problem is with Chrome. Had an unrelated-but-similar problem trying to pay a bill- got an error page on Chrome, but not in FF.

    If the above steps do not produce any positive results, then replace your wp-admin folder. I resolved this issue for me ……
