• Hi!

    I have been working on a a travelblog using wordpress for the last month or so. I am closing in on my departure date and suddenly I start getting problems with internet explorer. Try to access my site with internet explorer 6.0 or 7.0 and you can see what I’m talking about. How do I troubleshoot for this? I am sure it has something to do with a scrip running but I was hoping that some of you might be able to point me in the right direction.

    Thanks so much in advance!

  • I am having similar issues with IE. I’ve posted this in another section of the Forum (sorry for the double post) but I think this is a more appropriate thread for my issue.

    Within the past day or so, at least some people using Windows Internet Explorer versions 6 and 7 cannot access by blog https://ObsessiveJew.com/blog (it is a satire site and I am Jewish — just thought I’d explain…).

    All Macintosh browsers work and Windows Firefox and Safari work correctly (I have not as yet tried Chrome.)

    On IE for Windows, the page starts to load correctly and is then interrupted by a dialogue box that states that the operation was aborted and it then redirects to the MS “No Connection” page. I do see on the bottom left of the page, prior to the appearance of the dialogue box that there were errors loading the page but I cannot access them.

    Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Update: Tested Chrome and it works as expected.

    The site loaded VERY slowly but there’s nothing I can see that would cause that.

    Thanks for the visit Ipstenu. I’m relatively new so at all of this. Should I install the WP Cache plugin to speed things up — or do you think that will just complicate the issue I’m having with MSIE?

    Thanks in advance!

    i had that problem some time ago also, caused by a certain plugin. I can’t remember which one it was though. If i’m right it had something to do with a javascript going into a loop.

    First try checking your site with Firefox (with firebug plugin) I notice a lot of errors on your site! Pay special attention to these errors:

    Error: jQuery is not defined
    Source File: https://obsessivejew.com/blog/
    Line: 48

    Error: missing ; before statement
    Source File: https://obsessivejew.com/blog/wp-content/plugins/lightbox-2-wordpress-plugin/lightbox/js/effects.js
    Line: 1
    Source Code:
    Change the path in ../../wp-content/plugins/lightbox-2-wordpress-plugin/lightbox/lightbox.js

    LIfestyler, thanks so much for your visit and help. I was thinking it might have something to do with lightbox — I was able to stop the loading of the page in MSIE just before it aborted the page load and it seemed to have an issue with a PNG file that is used with lightbox. I will reinstall the lightbox plugin and also test it with the plugin disabled to see if that works and will report back to the forum.

    Thanks again!

    I just disable the lightbox-2 plugin and it is loading again in MSIE.

    Any ideas on how to use the plugin without causing the page to not load?

    i think its a jQuery problem of some kind. Both IE and FF give errors on it.

    UPDATE: I deleted lightbox-2 all together and replaced it with the Shadowbox plugin. Although there are still errors loading the page in MSIE, the IE does not abort the page load and Shadowbox is working as well.

    Thanks to Ipstenu and lifestyler for their help!

    show an error on thise javascript part:

    jQuery.noConflict();
    jQuery(document).ready(function() {
    jQuery.embedquicktime({jquery: “https://obsessivejew.com/blog/wp-content/plugins/embed_quicktime/jquery-1.2.1.pack.js”, plugin: “https://obsessivejew.com/blog/wp-content/plugins/embed_quicktime/jquery.embedquicktime.js”});
    });

    so it seems to me like its a video plugin causing errors? Probably conflicting with the lightbox, try disabling the video plugin and enable the lightbox again. Video plugins should be easier to find;)

    hi again! didnt notice that I double posted my question… sorry about that! Not going to delete it now that other people are posting as well. I found out that my problem lies with the Twitter HTML badge. So where do I go from now?

    The lightbox removal cleared up all my IE issues too, thanks
