This is pretty embarrassing but I can’t seem to permanently activate a theme. The way I do it is by going to Dashboard -> click on the theme I want -> then click on the “activate [theme name]” link.

Anyway, I do this and when I log out and visit the blog again, it uses the “Default” theme. I log back in and it automatically changes to my original theme I choose again.

I do have WP Super Cache plug-in installed incase that what’s causing the problem (though the plug-in seems to be working fine)…

  • Have you tried to clear cache, then deactivate the plugin and choose your theme? After you’ve got your theme issue fixed, reactivate the plugin.

Bump. I’m experiencing this same problem, and it’s terrifically frustrating. I can’t even get to the “activate [theme name]” link. What happens is I click on a new theme, and… nothing.

I’ve reinstalled wordpress and my plugins, so I’m not sure what the problem is. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I had the same problem but I found a fix. “Deactivate” all of the plugins. Then clear cache; login to your blog again. Then go to the design tab and select the new theme – the “activate” theme shows up now for me. New theme activated – turn your plugin back on and you should be good to go. Hope this helps.
