    Hi,

The Linked in Link hasn’t been active for a while and in that time I’ve installed SSL on the site. I’ve just gone to re authorise the link and I can’t. I click the ‘Get Authorisation code’ button and get to the Linked in user profile confirmation screen to allow the link, but then I get a 404 error when I return to the website?
The redirect URL is using http, not https so I’m wondering if that is the cause?

    Any ideas?

    Cheers

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

What version of the plugin are you using? So you have set the redirect URL in the application as HTTP?

Hi, I just updated it today, 5.24
The redirect URL the plugin tells me to use is http but I’ve tried both http and https in the OAuth 2 redirect url. Http gives me a 404 error on my site after authorising it with Linked in. https gives me “The redirect_uri does not match the registered value”, it doesn’t even get me to the screen to authorise with Linkedin.

    Any ideas?

This might be nothing to do with SSL BTW, I only mentioned it as its the only thing thats changed (other than regular updates of WP and plugins etc) since the last time Linkedin was connected.

This would be the issue, which is your website admin forces SSL – it’s not accessible through HTTP. It is possible to have a WordPress site which is HTTPS but doesn’t force it on the admin (and most sites work like this). If you can turn this off the plugin should work. I can’t really advise you how to turn this off because it really depends on a lot of factors like hosting, how the SSL has been setup, your redirect rules, your plugins etc. However a common way this is enforced is through the wp-config file as explained here: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Administration_Over_SSL

I will look at ways my plugin can better facilitate an SSL admin going forward.

Please try out this version of the plugin here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/06qcwdftnei1cge/wp-linkedin-auto-publish.zip?dl=0

(Please delete the existing plugin and install this version)

Also add the HTTPS url mentioned in the plugin settings to your LinkedIn application and then try re-authenticating again. Let me know if this works for you and I will consider putting this into the plugin core. Thanks,

    Hi @simplicityltd,

I have released a new version of the plugin which will enable you to select SSL from the advanced tab settings. Please do this and it should work for you well going forward.

@northernbeacheswebsites I’ve deleted your offer to login to your user’s site. I’m am 100% sure you mean well but please never ask for credentials on these forums.

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/guidelines/#the-bad-stuff

Now for the why: The internet is a wonderful place full of very nice people and a few very bad ones. I’m sure everyone here is very nice however, by giving some ones keys to your house you are trusting they wont steal anything. Likewise the person who takes the keys is now responsible for the house FOREVER.

If something was to go wrong, then you the author may well legally become liable for damages, which they would not normally have been as their software is provided without warranty.

Please be aware that repeatedly asking for credentials will result in us asking you to repeatedly stop before escalating up to the plugins team.
