    Hi Lillane!
I think you must contact your hosting company and explain your plight so they can let you in. They can surely help you!

    Hi Lillane,

I’m not familiar with USB webserver requirements. However, if someone experienced in USB webserver sees your request, perhaps we can offer a rephrasing of your problem. Please choose one of my attempts to assess your needs:

    (1. You developed two websites, one on a USB desktop server (the second site) and a first site hosted online with a hosting company.
After trying to place the second site on the previous hosted onine url, your passwords didn’t work.
You then tried to place the first website back and the passwords do not let you in. The online, hosted website is the one you want access to?

    (2. You cannot make passwords work with your offline desktop development USB webserver?

    (3. Your passwords don’t work with both of them?

If your problem is #1, you are in luck, contact the online hosting company and they will offer you a new password to get in and be very helpful, we hope. It’s part of their good service to you.

If your problem is #2, if it works like the desktop (offline) development options I’ve used, you can easily start a new website, from scratch.

For #3, both above options should get you out of trouble.

I hope you have your trouble solved very soon!

    Warm regards,
    Linda Sue

    Hello Linda Sue,

If i starting all over again, ( then i install WordPress on my hosting package), can i still use my url , illnovelle.nl.?
You see, we made a back up of this WordPress website, and if we can start all over again, and install WP on my hosting package, we just copy this website to the hosting package, right?
Thats my question, can i still use my URL?

    Thanks for help….

    Kind regards,
    Lilliane

    Hi Lillane,
In my previous post, I asked if you had problem #1, #2 or #3. Is it possible to answer this first?

    Hi Lillane,
I found another post from you about this problem. I found more clues about how it’s been going for you. So distressing for you!
    Ok, here’s what I found:

    Domain name: illnovelle.nl
    Status: active

    Registrar:
    Hosting2GO B.V.
    Baronielaan 92
    4818RC BREDA
    Netherlands

    Again, a couple choices:
    (1. You still own the domain name (the url)
    (2. The time you paid for using it ran out, was not renewed by you and was purchased for another’s use.

I think it’s still yours. Why? Your website is still showing up when we go to your url. A new owner would have put up their own site.

Again, the best course of action for you to follow is to contact Hosting2GO and request a new password to get into your website.

Your “rental” of the url will run out at the end of your time period, whatever that is, so I’d get back in a good relationship with the service people on the phone at Hosting2GO before you lose your url.

Just say, simply and calmly, I need a new password, I’m locked out of my account. They will get you going again if your account is in good standing with them.

    Good? : )

The Moderators are going to slap their foreheads.
I reread your other post. You opened a new account. And many other things. : )

Is it at a different hosting company than Hosting2GO? Are you asking how to migrate your domain name from one hosting company to another? And are there still lost password issues?

Password issues = phone the hosting company customer service where website is now.

Migrating domain to new hosting company is probably best done by your new hosting company, because there’s a newbie learning curve, so again, contact customer support and use the term migrating or transfering domain name from Hosting2GO to your site with them.

Be calm and quiet, use few words, don’t tell the story (it will confuse them!) and maybe they’ll do it for you. The alternative is to hire a professional able to assess all the twists and turns of this situation.

For the sake of the poor moderators, I will try to stop typing so much.

    Hopefully,
    Linda Sue

(One last comment: Passwords are so important for communicating with where the domain was purchased (for a certain time, to be renewed), for the account on the host server, etc. Anyone trying to help you will ask for these passwords. Without the passwords, customer service can begin to take extra time and the different companies involved (domain name, hosting…) have trouble communicating with one another’s software to straighten out your problem. Keeping passwords very safe and using only a few words to describe your request are KEY to the least unhappy outcome for you. Don’t lead their brains down dark and twisty paths of how you got where you are, just tell them what you need to have happen. And learn, learn, learn or pay someone reliable to keep your web business safe and sane. : ) It’s a lovely website, by the way!

I came back one more time to send you this, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weSDU7fMbP0 but it is for moving a WP site from one host to another. So you uploaded the WP site from USBwebserver to the online website with a clean install of WP on it. I wasn’t much help except to try to find out what had happened! Ha! I always phone my host’s customer service at BlueHost and they get me back on track if I haven’t done it right. The best to you!
    Warm regards,
    Linda Sue

This video shows more prep work and advises to install all the plugins on the new WP installation before the Import, also mentions widgets being done manually if used in the original. In the comments is a bit about letting the search engines know about the move, using a 301 redirect, and avoiding SEO penalization. Again, this is for moving from host to host, or even url to url, but some of the principles may be helpful. There’s a more complex, detailed way, as well, also referenced/linked in the comments of this second video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6gxfdbdAJ8
    Bye!
