  • Hi cqwhqc,

    1. Manually download a fresh copy of WordPress
    2. Log into the FTP account and upload everything EXCEPT the wp-content folder

It is important that you do NOT copy over the wp-content folder or the wp-config.php files. These are custom to each site.

This will allow you to make sure the upgrade is complete.

If that doesn’t work, you should remove the .htaccess file from the site, and see if you can get access back to the admin.

Irrespective of the above, you should be able to log into your dashboard using this URL:
    https://www.ruudvanwylick.com/wp-login.php

    Hope, this helps.

    Hey kunstwerck,

First of all thanks a lot for your quick reply!

I tried to follow the steps, but i didn’t manage to download and install WordPress. I quite hard for someone whose not really into this.. It’s not just an application.

When I try to log in it gives me the following message

De pagina op https://www.ruudvanwylick.com werkt niet

https://www.ruudvanwylick.com kan dit verzoek momenteel niet verwerken.
    HTTP ERROR 500

It’s Dutch, and it says that the page on ruudvanwylick.com doest work

    It can’t process this request

    Hi cqwhqc,

Did you try to clear all the caches in your browser or use a different browser?
Also, did you have a caching plugin installed (e.g. W3 cache or similar)? These sometimes interfere with the automatic update of WP.

Where do you have your site hosted?

Do you have access (via ftp or cPanel or similar dashboard) to your server which holds your data?
If you do, you could try to temporarily rename the caching plugin folder and see if that works.
If not, you should try to get in touch with the hosting provider support team, as they will be able to help you in this case (either to disable any caching plugins or to re-install everything but keeping the wp-content folder and the wp-config.php file).

    Hope, this helps.

Thanks a lot! I’m running again!

    Great news!
Just out of curiosity and for future readers of this thread – how did you resolve it in the end?

    Cheers and all the best!
