• Original review: It is way too hard to build a form when the text labels are black on a black background. This does not occur on the form as displayed, but I need to create a long and complicated form and having black boxes on the builder page is just too frustrating.

I changed my back end theme to each color combination and it had no effect.

Good idea, but unworkable in practice. Glad I didn’t spend money on it.

Addendum: Turns out to be an incompatibility with an installed plugin. I may check out the paid version later.

It sounds like you’ve got a theme or plugin on your site that is causing some major interference. What is making your background black in your admin area?

Only the label backgrounds were black, but the label text was also black (not the whole admin area). It may be a theme issue (Divi), but I just deleted Formidable and loaded Caldera instead. Caldera’s documentation sucks and there’s no tutorial, but my form is finished and being tested now.

I would have used Formidable if I could have read the labels. Thanks for following up.

We have a lot of people using Divi and Formidable together without this problem. It must be coming from one of the plugins on your site. It would be great if you could find out which plugin is conflicting.

I don’t have Formidable currently installed so I’m not going to do further testing. However, in an effort to be helpful, here are the active plugins that were installed when the problem occurred:

    Elegant Themes Updater
    One-Click Child Theme
    Opening Hours
    UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore

The Opening Hours plugin is causing issues. That plugin hasn’t been updated in a long time, and isn’t compatible with the current version of WordPress. It’s got some css that could cause a lot of trouble with a lot of plugins. I’d definitely recommend replacing that one.

Can you suggest a free plugin with similar features?

    Plugin Author Steph Wells

    (@sswells)

No, I haven’t used any plugins like that. Sorry.

    (@mvhplank)

Oh well. The client specifically wanted what the plugin offers–open hours and a self-setting notice of whether they were open at that moment. They like this, so I’m stuck with it until it quits working entirely.

    Thanks!

Not to pitch you or anything, but you could use the pro version of Formidable for that.

<grin>For which–the forms or the open hours display?

    Plugin Author Steph Wells

    (@sswells)

Both. You could create a form for the open and close hours, and the view could display when the current time is within those hours.

    Interesting. I’ll take a look at it–thanks!

By the way, you should change your review ??
