Yesterday morning I was prompted to upgrade to WordPress 3.9.1. and to update 2 plugins. I did. Now the site is scrambled with an error message relating to one of the plugins (Get User Custom Field Values). I have uninstalled the plugin but the site is still scrambled with an error message relating to the personal theme I use. “Fatal error: Call to undefined function c2c_get_custom() in/home/hukeymva/public_html/lothian/wp-content/themes/lothianlife/single.phpon line?12”

I can’t see anything wrong with the theme which should not have been affected.
I’ve tried to reinstall 3.9.1 but get “Could not copy file.: wordpress/wp-admin/css/revisions.css”

Now I don’t know where the problem lies and am afraid to fiddle any more! Is there a way of undoing the upgrades I made yesterday?

  • The issue is in your theme – not a plugin. Try switching to the default theme by renaming:

    wp-content/themes/lothianlife

    to:

    wp-content/themes/lothianlife-old

using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    Thanks, esmi
    I’ll give that a try.

Oh dear, I may have misunderstood. I renamed the theme but I suppose I was renaming it to something that doesn’t exist. The site disappeared altogether!
We have another error message on another computer “fatal error Call to undefined function c2c_get_custom() in/home/hukeymva/public_html/lothian/wp-content/themes/lothianlife/index.php on line 41
I think I need to find an original version that I can replace it with.

Sorted now. It must have been the plug-in that scrambled things and the theme couldn’t find what it needed. Plug in re-installed and we’re all hunkydorey. But a lesson to me to back up even when it’s the teeniest update you’re doing.

hi, i think the 3.9.1 is not stable release.
for a simple wp installation the update page function is not working.
it says page not found after the update button is clicked.
