  • Sounds like you may have some form of page or site caching in place. The plugin only works if it is on – and if it is STILL working after you deactivate it, then it is because WordPress still THINKS it is on – and that can only be from caching.

The plugin will not change any settings or options for normal WordPress functionality either, so again, if your homepage is ‘stuck’ on a category, you either have something cached, your homepage settings incorrect (check Settings/Reading), OR you have another plugin installed that is doing something similar.

Many times (not saying this time), users install several plugins to try to do the same thing – especially when the first one or two do not work as expected. Then when they get something working, the forget to turn off some (if any) of the other plugins and then have issues. This is a VERY common occurrence – especially when redirecting seems ‘stuck’. So anyone reading this post in the future, please check to make sure if you have any other redirection plugins installed, that you deactivate them all as well when trying to fix an issue. And then ALWAYS clear all your cache files. Then, clear your BROWSER cache. Usually is fixes the issue.

Let me know if you are still having issues on this.

    Thanks, sounds reasonable.
It’s the related to the theme, others don’t have the issue. But it’s weird because I only get a home page if it’s static, and then it redirects to the category as per the plugin, even though the plugin is gone.

I don’t have caching on this site, and I tried deactivating all other plugins.

It’s a customized theme, but it works on other sites. Really weird.
