• I am trying to migrate a site from localhost to live. My hosting company are failing to provide me with the necessary information. I was able to export my WordPress database, and I’m looking to access the ftp address of the live site online. The only info I am receiving is the ftp username and password and they wont give me the address which i need to use for Filezilla, Any advice? I have never transferred a website and any tips would be much appreciated

What do you mean by “they wont give me the address which i need to use for Filezilla”

As you said, you have already received the ftp username and password from them!

I could be totally wrong! When I open up Filezilla, the top section requires information such as host, username, password and port in order to connect. I don’t have connection to the live site in the table (“remote site”) and it seems like until I am able to fill out the categories, I wont be able to progress.. Should I be filling them out with my localhost information?

All you should need for Filezilla is host, username, and password. If your website is on your domain, it is likely https://ftp.yourdomain. Your host should give you that information. Here is a screenshot of a Filezilla setup of one of my web sites which may help you. https://www.dropbox.com/s/g6a3ybrlf95a2y5/2015-06-19_1412.png?dl=0

Thank you so much for your input. I downloaded the filezilla client, which is meant to assist transferring files. And when I open it up it shows two boxes, one side for my local server and the other is empty, for the live host you are trying to transfer files to. I tried the https://ftp.mylivesiteaddress.com and the site said the following: Web Server’s Default Page
This page is generated by Parallels Plesk Panel, the leading hosting automation software. You see this page because there is no Web site at this address.
    You can do the following:
Create domains and set up Web hosting using Parallels Plesk Panel. I asked the hosting company to give me the url link and they got back to me giving me the username and password only.
