• Hello,

I’m building a site using Genesis 1.3 and modifying the look using the sample child theme.

I’ve build out a few sites this way with great results, however I’ve run into a really strange issue.

I can’t get the WP custom nave menu I built to show. I’ve done this many times before, and only now having trouble.

I’ve created the menu and saved it. I’ve set it to the primary nav position and saved it. I’ve gone into the Genesis options and selected the custom nav menu and saved it. However no matter what I do, it won’t show.

It’s not saving to that position is my guess, because when I go back to Appearance >> Menus, it’s not saved in the primary navigation menu spot any more. It will save, but when I leave the page, it resets back to not being saved.

The only things that may be an issue, is that I have the site set to private (blocking search engines) and I have an htaccess password on the site so you can’t get to it without the password.

I’ve tested with the new default theme Twenty Ten and been able to save my menu and it shows fine. Wondering if anyone has any thoughts or may have run into this before?

  • I know this is an old post but I’ve been struggling with this issue all day.

In my case it turned out it was an unrecognised ü character in the theme name that was causing the functionality to break.

Funny how the trivial things cause the biggest headache!
