Saving any changes on “Firewall > htaccess rules” results in 404 page and the new settings are not saved. Hence, can’t enable anything on that page and the “Basic firewall” is off.

    Hi @marinakudinova

Do you have an issue when saving the htaccess rules only, Do It loads fine the htaccess rules tab before save?

As save post back to the same URL page it should not be the page not exist ( 404 error ).

can you please send me screenshot if possible?

Generally if you have all front pages start to show 404 . It is Permalink issue. Go to Settings > Peramlinks save once.

    Hello,

Initially the settings page loads fine, but if I try to save any changes it shows 404 for the same /wp-admin/admin.php?page=aiowpsec_firewall&tab=htaccess-rules, if I reload after that, sometimes it shows the settings tab again without any changes applied, or persists on 404 until I log in. I could send you a screenshot, but there isn’t much to shoot actually.

    Thank you.

    Hi @marinakudinova.

Saving htaccess rules works fine it is not the general issue.

Can you please enable the debug log from WP security > Settings > General settings and cross-check

WP security > Dashboard > Debug logs if there is any error writing to ,htaccess file, Hope permission is fine.

If above all is fine and no debug logs > Do you have any cache plugin installed? If yes, could you try disabling it? It might also conflict with another plugin, so please disable one-by-one another plugin to cross-check.

    Hello,

I disabled all the plugins and it did not help, there is no error writing to htaccess file either in debug logs. I did not have this issue with AIOS previously. The only difference with previous sites is that this site is in the subdomain of the main site aka https://this-site.main-site.com. And on the main site I have AIOS fully configured and functioning. Could such a setup cause an issue with file permissions?

    Thank you,

    Marina

    Hi @marinakudinova

    Thanks for the information.

Was this subdomain site created as child folder to main site recently?

OR it was created before and the issue is due to the latest AIOS 5.3.1 version.

URL /wp-admin/admin.php?page=aiowpsec_firewall&tab=htaccess-rules being used is of subdomain and the actual file exists admin.php so it should be a 404 error when saving.

Which hosting provider do you use? and which web server is there (Apache / Lightspeed)?

    Regards

    Hello,

The subdomain was created recently, but its folder on server is on the same level with the main site folder. The latest AIOS version was installed initially on the subdomain site, that is after the latest update of the plugin. The web server is Apache, the PHP SAPI is litespeed. I use the local hosting provider from Belarus. I did not quite get the question about URL and admin.php, but yes the URL is of subdomain.
