• I had this same problem several weeks ago and when I downloaded 3.6 it went away.

On Monday, I downloaded 3.6.1 and it’s back. Basically, when I try to save a post or a page, the little circle begins spinning and spins and spins, but the page or post never saves. It’s not backing up either, so when I finally get an error message (see below), I’ve lost what I was working on. Then if I try to get back to either my homepage or the dashboard, I get a message that my server has kicked me off.

Anyone have any idea what I should try? I am technically LAME, so instructions for dummies would be appreciated. Thanks so much.

    Here’s what the error says:

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    Thanks esmi.

I did deactivate all plugins and the problem was still there. I’ve been reactivating them and now I’m all messed up with google + (lol)

I use Twenty Ten as my theme. That is a default theme is it not?

If I reset the plugins folder do I then need to reconfigure all of the plugins? Could I also just delete all inactive plugins?

Not sure how to reupload all files and folders and delete the old copies. That sounds like the last measure. Sorry to be so slow, but how would I do this?

    Thanks!

That is a default theme is it not?

It was the default theme in an earlier version of WordPress. yes. But 2013 is the current default theme. Have you modified the 2010 theme at all?

No. I haven’t modified it at all. I’m not smart enough lol! Should I switch to 2013? Will that make me go crazy?

I have reset the plugins folder and it did not good. Strangely, the problem has gotten worse throughout the day. With the plugins folder completely reset and all of them deactivated, I couldn’t even get the “update” button to “light up.” It wouldn’t work at all.

Essentially, I can do all functions in WordPress except save posts and pages and upload media.

Since this is my business, I’m rather worried, to say the least.

Have you asked your hosting company about this? Sounds likea possible server issue.

I have this same problem and am hosted at Go Daddy. I called them but they sent me here. I’ve deactivated my plugins, no help. I have not tried changing themes.

I have been on the phone with Go Daddy for several hours! I haven’t tried changing themes either, but I am thinking about changing hosting companies. The error messages I am getting are all related to the server being too busy and breaking the connection.

    Recommendations for other hosts?

    Any other ideas?

mshoptaw you can’t save posts or pages? But you can do other things from your dashboard correct?

Thanks to you both for helping!

Yes, I am having exactly the same problem. I did try changing themes and it did not help. Yes, I can get to the dashboard and make other changes, just can’t update pages.

Also, I can create new pages, with photos and links in private mode. I just can’t go back and modify anything. I have to be perfect!

I haven’t tried a public post because I don’t want to basically spam my subscribers with “tests.”

So, does that sound like a server problem?

Given your host – yes. If you search these forums, you’ll find quite a few threads on this kind of problem – here’s one:
