We are using your plugin for a client’s website and want to ensure it is GDPR compliant. Unfortunately, Google Fonts are being loaded and I am unable to set and save the ‘Save Google Fonts locally’ setting to true. What could be the reason for this?

    Hi @lisamaria12 ,

We can help you with that.

What do you mean unable to set? Are you saying that when you save the setting on the Customizer, it doesn’t update?

There is a chance that this is cache related. When you clear all your cache, make sure to include the CDN cache if you are using CDN: https://www.kadencewp.com/kadence-theme/knowledge-base/troubleshooting/clearing-your-website-cache/

In Kadence, when you locally load the font files they are downloaded from Google’s servers and then hosted on your servers just like an image would be hosted on your server. This means your site visitors don’t reach Google servers. Essentially that means your website users’ won’t be downloading the font on their browsers.

Having this option gives Kadence users the choice to load the fonts remotely or download it and load locally.

Please note that no Google Font will be loaded or called if no block or typography setting uses it. Basically, Kadence uses System Default as the base font family in the settings.

Can you confirm that the steps below is how you enabled local fonts?

    1. Go to General >> Performance.
    2. Enable Load Google Fonts Locally.
    3. Click Flush Local Fonts Files: https://nimb.ws/OiAwZT
    4. Flush your cache including your CDN cache if you are using one: https://www.kadencewp.com/kadence-theme/knowledge-base/troubleshooting/clearing-your-website-cache/
    5. You can read more about it here: https://www.kadencewp.com/blog/how-to-use-google-fonts-locally-in-wordpress-with-kadence/

Let us know if we can assist you further.

    Kind Regards,
    Michael Taro

Hello Michael, regarding the following point: What do you mean by unable to set? Are you saying that when you save the setting in the Customizer, it doesn’t update?

There’s no button to save this setting, that’s the issue, and I also don’t have settings like Performance, so I can’t make any adjustments.

Thank you very much for your support!
    Kind Regards,
    Lisa

    Hello @lisamaria12

You said, “There’s no button to save this setting, that’s the issue, and I also don’t have settings like Performance, so I can’t make any adjustments.” The customizer uses the “Publish” button at the top of the customizer settings. Are you publishing the changes? Is it possible you’ve changed it to a draft by accident? I’ve included a screenshot for reference.

Additionally, are you saying you navigate to Appearance > Customize > General and do not see a section for “Performance”? If so, can you provide a screenshot of your customizer? Also, did you clear your cache, as mentioned before?

i hope or i thing, she mean this, and this is, i think a bug. the settings of this option doesn’t save if i change it to true.

    Hi there!

I apologize for the delay in getting back to you and for the misunderstanding.

You’re right, the option in Kadence > Home settings is not being saved. I’ve escalated this to our team for fixing.

    Regards,
    Karla

I have the same problem and made some tests:

It seems, that version 3.1.26 is the last with an existing “Save changes” Button.

But it seems also, that the setting is consistent after updating to newer versions

    So I have a workaround:

    1. Rollback to version 3.1.26 : https://de.www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-rollback/
    2. Set “Wahr” + Save it
    3. Update plugin to current version

    Hi there,

    Just a quick update.

I can see on our internal tracker that this is included on the current development sprint.

That doesn’t mean it will be finished and the update will be released once the development sprint ends though.

Please note that the actual timing is still subject to change.

You can also check our changelog when a new update is released so you can check if the fix is included: https://www.kadencewp.com/kadence-blocks/changelog/

We appreciate your continued patience and understanding regarding this matter.

    Kind Regards,

    Hi there,

    Just a quick update.

The patch for this has been released with version 3.2.49 of Kadence Blocks. If you are updated to the latest version, then this particular issue would have been addressed.

Please note that you can also submit a support ticket via these channels.

We appreciate your continued patience and understanding regarding this matter.

    Kind Regards,
    Michael Taro
