Unable to complete a scan since the 6.3.7 update.
I updated to 6.3.8 and i do not get fatal errors, however Wordfence can not finish a scan.
I have followed all the instructions on
    https://docs.wordfence.com/en/Scan_time_limit
but it does not make a difference.

    The scan doesn’t get past
Comparing core WordPress files against originals in repository
    and the error is
Scan terminated with error: The scan time limit of 3 hours has been exceeded and the scan will be terminated. This limit can be customized on the options page.

Is there anything else I can do?
    thanks

  • Hi @wpelvis,

Have you tried applying the solutions outlined in this article?

If the issue persists, please enable the debugging mode and post here the last 20 lines or so of the activity log after starting a new scan.

    Hi @wpelvis,

    Apologies for the delayed response.

Although it isn’t directly related to Wordfence, the error displayed in the log

ob_end_flush() [ref.outcontrol]: failed to delete buffer zlib output compression (8) File: /home/savethemale/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php Line: 3720

points to a part of the WordPress code that should apply when the site is using PHP version 5.2.

In case you’re running that specific version of PHP, this would also explain the difficulties Wordfence has to perform the scan in a timely manner. (see here Wordfence requirements)

If you’re using a more recent version, please note that the latest Wordfence update (6.3.10) includes an improvement of the overall memory usage and peak memory usage for the scanner, which appears to be high in your case

Wordfence used 120.19MB of memory for scan. Server peak memory usage was: 254.83MB

Please upgrade PHP and/or Wordfence and let me know if the scan is able to run to completion.
