What version of PHP are you running? Higher up in the screen is there a message similar to:

Your PHP version is too old, please upgrade to a newer version. Your version is 5.2.14, Breadcrumb NavXT requires 5.3.0

The one thing I know that will cause this issue is having an ancient PHP install (the last release of PHP5.2 was almost 5 years ago). Breadcrumb NavXT requires PHP 5.3 or newer.

Oh well, just noticed, it does say that! I run a version 5.2.17. What can I do about it? Thank you for your response.

Talk with your webhost about moving to a newer version of PHP (5.6 is recommended). It is likely they provide multiple versions of PHP for you to run but the default is 5.2 or you have something setting it to 5.2 (e.g. a .htaccess rule, or something in cpanel).
