can't see if i have installed wordpress.com or www.ads-software.com (but want wordpress

Hi all, I am really new to wordpress designing and would love as much help as possible. I am not a designer, have no seo or graphic or coding experience – am a writer but my last site crashed (was a themekraft theme built by a designer friend on www.ads-software.com I think and hosted by host papa.)
So far I have managed to get hostpapa up and running with my domain name too and I scrolled down the control panel and did a one click word press install.I chose a free theme. Two hours later my site is live and i need to urgently hide it in maintenance mode/ holding page status as it looks bad right now.
I am in the wordpress dashboard and tried to add Askismet plugin but it asked me to register and I am getting seriously confused with all the passwords and logins! (One password and user name for logging into this forum) another password when logging into https://www.mysite.w-p.php and now the pliugin is saying i have already been registered (which I was in 2012 with my old site.) Is there any way I can check i am using a www.ads-software.com site and not a wordpress.com site please? I need to make my site fully customisable with full access and control of ads etc and design. (Plus I want to tweak Fashionista theme but want to know if that is even possible please?) This is way out of my comfort zone but I am determined to succeed and would love any help any kind soul on here could offer! Thank you so much!
