Stupidly I lost my password for a site I made. I thought I was using the right login but was mistaken. The login i had took me into WordPress but did not show any Dashboard Admin items such as plugins and pages etc.
Anyway I ended up trying to manually update WordPress via Dreamweaver. Which was suggested to me. Hoping this would let me in with the login i had. BUT now I just have a blank page – no site showing.
I turned on php errors and get this now
Fatal error: Class ‘WP_Widget’ not found in /customers/2/6/a/aspirerental.com/httpd.www/wp-content/plugins/quote-of-the-day-and-random-quote/quote-of-the-day-and-random-quote.php on line 118
Please can someone help me. Thanks

  • I see your site not working anymore, it is showing the error for plugin. For this I recommend delete this plugin “quote-of-the-day-and-random-quote” from your site. You can connect with ftp and find this under plugin directory.

Once you see the site then reinstall this plugin and do the setup but before that take full backup of your site.

and another message . . . Fatal error: Class ‘WP_Widget’ not found in /customers/2/6/a/aspirerental.com/httpd.www/wp-includes/widgets/class-wp-widget-pages.php on line 17

Please can someone tell me if I need to just delete and redo the site. Thanks.
Can the database be saved somehow, as this seems to have info on the Pages I created.

I see it is core file error showing now… ok best way to debug like this…

download all source code and db from phpmyadmin… set up everything on local server and if you see issue then download latest wordpress files and replace wp-includes and wp-admin directory with your current directory.

If you see all running good in your locas server then upload the new wp-includes and wp-admin to your live server.

Hi Rajan, in the end I contacted the hosting company and they gave me a backup of my files as they store backups for a week. I just reloaded up the files I had changed and thank goodness the site is back again.
    Thank you for your help.

    Awesome!!
