Can't see new post of my "editor"

  • I run many wordpress sites, but never came across this. I have an user who is the “editor”. She created a new post and left it in the backend for me to edit. I do this all the time.

    But for some reason, I do not see her post when I log in as administrator. In fact, I sat next to her, we were both logged in and I watched her add a new post (draft). On all my other sites, I can see all the drafts and post of other users. But for some reason I cannot see hers.

    I even changed her to administrator and still can’t see her post.

    Any idea why this is?

    Hi Steve, I have never seen this before…

    • Has she set the post to ‘private’ or something?
    • Do you have a filter on that only shows your posts?
    • Does this installation have any weird configurations or plugins that would negatively effect user post displays?
    • Can she see post by you?

    Hey g.

    Nothing is set to private. The site is really just a copy of many other sites I have done. She can see my post. No configurations should effect the post.

    The site is hosted on a University server and they do have all sorts of firewall and access protections. It is a pain in the butt to update a plugin on the site. But I am not sure this is causing the user issue I am experiencing.

    I am baffled.

    I currently work at a University with the similar constraints… yet we are able to make it work.

    • Is it just her, or have you added other users with the same results?
    • Have you looked in the Database table to compare it to other posts made by other users… perhaps there is a problem with her account… specifically…

    I am baffled too.

    I just did a test with a new user and can see the draft post I used for the test. So maybe I just recreate a user for her and hope it works.

    Strange… but if I can get it to work, I am not going to worry/wonder why.
