Can’t see “sort by” or [x] on tablet/phone

WordPress 5.2.2 running Primer theme.

Running PHP version: 7.2.15

WP Google Search v. 1.0.7

Display search box before search results: checked
Link Target Blank: checked
Use default corrections CSS v2: checked

Desktop/Laptop shows complete search screen including “sort by: [relevance]” and [x] to close search screen. But on samsung tablet and samsung smart phone, it shows results in search screen, but cuts off “sort by:” and the [x] to close. cannot scroll over to the right to close search screen. the only way to close search screen is to click the small space outside the search screen. pressing back exits my webpage (to google if that was the page before)
