I have recently installed TablePress. I can insert a table into my page and see its structure when I preview the page, but all I see in the visual editor is the shortcode with no way to add content. What am I doing wrong>

  • You’ll see a band that says “Table Content, with a down arrow out to the right. It’s directly above “Table manipulation” Click that down arrow.

Don’t feel bad– I had the same problem!

Thanks! It looks like this plug-in doesn’t provide what I need after all. I was looking for something that placed a formatted empty table in the page which could then have material typed in from the visual editor.

Not sure what you mean by a formatted empty table. You can have an empty table on the back end, of course, and anything you type into it will then be visible on the page in which you have put the short code for the table. Are we talking about the same thing? I suspect that if there is anything this plug in doesn’t provide, you aren’t likely to find it anywhere else. Tobias is pretty thorough. Maybe he’ll weigh in on this.

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

It sounds as if you are looking to edit (i.e. fill the table with data and content) in the Visual Editor of your theme. This is not how TablePress works. Instead, there’s a special “Edit” screen for tables in the TablePress admin menu. Then, to insert the full table into a page/post, you add the Shortcode to it.

    Regards,
    Tobias
