    Hello,
I have activated the plugging for my site and made all the requsite settings. I am using the latest chrome on my Android phone. But when I access even the superpwa site it doesn’t show the Add To Home on the site, as shown in your video.
But I could add superpwa as well as my app to home using the chrome menu which shows an Add To Home menuitem. But after adding the home screen comes, but nothing but else works.
I am on good internet connection, my site is https and responsive. Not sure what’s the detail I am missing.
    Any suggestions

Ok so this what I discovered, that I had to turn the Chrome –>> Setting –>> Site Setting –>> Cookies enabled inorder for the SPWA to work.

This looks more of a Chrome issue than SPWA.

Anyway I am always grateful with the ease this plugin works and gives results.

    Now to some issues,
    1. The one I asked earlier – Add to Home Screen doesn’t appear, as shown in your video refs. But its not just an issue with my plugin,it is an issue even with SPWA. Again looks like a Chrome and OS issue. These are my details – Chrome is latest and Android is – 8.1.0. I will try testing it on a another make of an Android phone to see that its not phone or its custom UI specific. In the meanwhile any known issues with what I have provided.
    2. I am using a Google Translate plugin for translations for my site GTranslate. It allows me to configure a dropdown for choosing the language. Now its all good for a Website and I am guessing for a PWA on MSEdge.
But on Chrome, the PWA determines that I am using Google Translations, so it shows the dropdown I have configured by default, plus on a touch it brings of the Google Translate(basic) popup. This is an UX issue for me. I will reach the respective plugin too discuss the same. But is there anything possible/necessary to be done, at SPWA end?

    Thanks

    Hi there,

Cookies are normally enabled by default over almost all browsers. And SPWA will work perfectly on all the browsers which support PWA.

Can you share your website URL, so that I can undergo some tests and can update you the reason why the prompt is not showing up on your website.

Over PWA, the normal website itself is loading within an app-shell. Due to that reason, it will support all the features which is supported over the browser on the PWA.

Apologies for the delayed response. I wanted to try out some basic tests, at my end, before I seeked more help.

So as far the – Add to Home Screen, issue is concerned. It looks like for the same android and chrome version, on other phone vendors, it works as published in your video.

I am on a REDMI 6, Xiaomi with MIUI 6.0., I am inclined to believe it is because of that I am facing an issue, although not sure why. Besides if I click the Chrome–>>Settings it gives me the Add to Home Screen option and from then on everything works well. I am still digging, I will let you know if I come across anything and request you to do the same.

As for the Google Translate issue is concerned, my understanding, from your reply, is that, since the app is loading as a shell, it loads with all features configured. Which is great, but what also seems is that from the shell what gets passed on is the fact, Google Translate has been turned on for the site and hence the Translate popup shows up. So if thats the case, there must be a way to plug the same in the app-shell, right?

    Kindly do suggest.

Can you please let me know the browser at which you tested the website on REDMI 6, Xiaomi with MIUI 6.0?

Upon a lot of websites which I tested PWA, (who all installed our plugin) I noticed the inbult Chrome translation prompt over the websites. The chrome checks the device default language and website language for showing this. Frankly I’m not sure whether you setup the translation via any other plugin or not. Hope you will share more details over it and the URL.

    Best regards,

    1. Chrome, latest version, Android 8.1.0. Tested with the same versions on all phones.
    2. Yes I have installed an additional plugin on the application. Thanks for the insight on when Chrome does the check. Let me do some tests at my end and will revert.

Can you please clear the browsing data for the website over the browser and test it again?

Tried that as well, with the same result. Actually tried through an incog window, it doesn’t even give the Add to Home Screen option.

The other possibility could be something like enabling the Cookie setting on my personal Chrome. Although such settings are obvious for most users, I have not enabled them for security reasons, at my end.

Is there a particular Chrome setting that is requisite for showing the Add To Home Screen popup?

    Jose Varghese

    (@josevarghese)

FYI – upon Incognito mode you cannot notice the Add to Homescreen prompt. That’s how Chrome designed PWA over it.

You can also try out an another way to test PWA over your browser. Simply visit the website which you installed SuperPWA, disconnect the internet and refresh the page. If the page loads even without showing the dinosaur, you can confirm that PWA is working over it.

    @josevarghese

For @josevarghese and for the benefit of anyone else visiting this thread, I have discovered the reason for all 3 cases.

To begin the solution/reason are setting related and not with your PWA creation or SPWA.

    1. Chrome Browser – Cookie Setting must be enabled for PWAs to work
    2. The Translate popup shows up if the Chrome Browser –>> Languages –>> Offer to translate in other languages is enabled
    3. The Add To Home Screen popoup will show up only if Chrome App –>> Show Notifications has been enabled on your phone.

    Thanks

Glad to hear that @ananddevops. Enjoy PWA and do share our plugin with your friends.

    Hi @guiadelamujer1,

We fixed this over Facebook chat support, as it was related to an non-secured content loading upon your website. Hope that helps.

Check your phone settings for your App and see if –>> Show Notifications is turned on to rule out any settings issue.
