can’t see the captcha text

I have installed this plugin on one of my clients sites… I cant login as the captcha is not showing. I have tried making the captcha.php file accessible in .htaccess file located in root folder, using the following code from one of the previous posts in the forum… but its still not working.

Order Allow,Deny
Allow from all
</Files>

I also cant find the .htaccess file located in the “wp-contet or plugin” folders as also mentioned in previous posts with the same issue.
