• Hi-

I have noticed that inline tiff images are not visible in Firefox. Other posts have mentioned this problem but the suggested solutions have not worked for me. I have ruled out issues with plugins, browser cache, and the file itself.

Here is the page, there is a jpg and a tiff in two adjacent posts. The tiff is labeled “screen shot”. And I can see it in Safari just fine.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have.

  • I don’t believe Firefox is set (by default) to display TIFF images – just like IE won’t display transparent PNG files without some fiddling.

If *you* want to see them in Firefox, you need a plugin for it, but if others don’t have it, then they won’t see them either.

Your best bet is to display them as GIF or JPG – those are the two standards that can be seen across all browsers.

Thanks very much. Sorry I think maybe I should have known that. I’ll stick with other formats for now.

For OS X users, the “Grab” utility saves only as tiff, but there are alternative screen capture utilities. For example “InstantShot” saves in various formats and the size can be constrained for easier inclusion in blog entries. There are others as well.

I’m working on a Mac and while Safari sees my inline image just fine, neither FireFox or IE 5 can load it, showing a broken link. I think what is displaying is the image background.
Any ideas? I’ve already sized the image at 270 in a 350 content area, and think there’s something missing from the code.

The image “https://www.cornucopia.net/blog/wp-content/themes/breaking-news-10/images/Raki%20drinker1.jpeg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

    Possible causes:
    – space in the filename
    – incorrect upload (ascii vs. binary)
    – corrupted file during the upload
