Cant select database

I’ve searched, but cant find the answer. This is my 1st attempt to use WordPress.
I get the following on trying wp-config.php;

Warning: main(/homepages/31/d153095152/htdocs/article33//wp-admin/admin-functions.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /homepages/31/d153095152/htdocs/article33/wp-admin/upgrade-functions.php on line 3

Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/homepages/31/d153095152/htdocs/article33//wp-admin/admin-functions.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /homepages/31/d153095152/htdocs/article33/wp-admin/upgrade-functions.php on line 3

If I alter the database name in wp-config.php to wordpress instead of db182719670,then I get the error Cant select database, etc as reported in other posts.

My database is named db182719670 by the sql database software at 1and1.co.uk, so I cant alter it, and it reports as present and ready. I’ve checked and copied the names exactly into the wp-config.php.

Can you help?
