Can't select HTML editor

  • Installed a fresh WP tonight for a new site I’m building. Only thing I’ve installed so far other than WP is my theme of choice. Did a lot of set up and then when I went to create a page, realized that I can’t select the HTML editor. It’s just grayed out.

    So yes, I searched here and sure enough, found a bunch of threads with the same problem. Problem is they were all 6 months or longer ago and weren’t resolved so I found no answer. I did find ideas such as switch to another theme and see if it works (it didn’t), reinstall the wp-admin and wp-includes folders to see if that fixes it (it didn’t), clear your cache (duh … but didn’t work) and I even rebooted my system just out of blind hope. Nothing.

    Any ideas? It’s not the theme. I haven’t installed any plug-ins and this was a fresh install with no add-ons other than the theme.
