If I nest a page under a page, I can’t use the menu link to the parent page – it just displays an X to the left and the dropdown appears, but I can only go to the child pages.

I realize that some people may create an empty page to act as a container or title, but I don’t think that’s typical.

    Thanks!

  • Hi webmystery, could you post a link that shows the issue you are describing? I don’t understand what you mean about “an X to the left and the dropdown appears”.

Look at the menu for https://downtownvallejo.com/

The link to About CCRC is not reachable from the left menu because it has the “Downtown Vacancies” link in it.

    Thanks

I’m not familiar with the Counterpoint Theme however it may be worth looking at the Menu structure in Appearance-Menu to see if the About CCRC menu item is a page, or a custom link or something else.

This may give a clue as to what’s happening.

Also the About CCRC link that is part of the menu is pointing to a page called “../about-ccrc2” which could indicate that the original page was replaced somewhere along the way.

The page is there. I copied it page to a post so it could be a sticky post – thus the ‘2’ in the url.

I think it is the way this theme is supposed to work, because you have to click to see the dropdown rather than hover, therefore if the parent menu item linked to the page it would defeat the usability of the dropdown. Not a bug but a non-standard feature. Knowing what to expect I can work with it.
