On the edit post page, under the Tags (Simple Tags) section, where I can type in my tags, I can no longer use the up/down arrows and Tab keys to select a tag from the dropdown list. I have to use the mouse to click on the tag to add it, or type out the whole tag and comma.

The installation where this does not work is WordPress 5.6 and Simple Tags 2.62.

Another installation I have where it still works as it used to is WordPress 5.5.3 and Simple Tags 2.5.7.

Can this functionality possibly be added back? Thanks.

  • Hi,
Thank you for the detailed bug report. There were some big jQuery related changes in WP 5.6 so obviously that caused the issue. We’ll look into it and fix it in the next release.

Thanks for the reply. I don’t know if you looked into already it but I noticed (on accident, of course) that I can still use the arrow and tab keys to input tags, it’s just that the currently selected tag in the list isn’t highlighted. I don’t know if that makes a difference or helps you to identify the issue more easily.

    It definitely helps! Thank you.
We still didn’t get to the bottom of it but it’s on our to-do ??

I came across another topic covering this issue https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/key-up-down-not-working-anymore/ in the Classic Editor plugin so I think it’s not Simple Tags that has the problem? Sorry about that, Simple Tags is so nicely integrated I always forget where it ends and WordPress itself begins, haha

    ??
Thank you for the link, I’ll double-check if that’s the cause of the problem ??
