• Hi,

If I submit the for twice I get an error : “There has been a critical error on your website” and then I can set wordpress to debugging mode.

Reason for submitting the form twice is it’s registrations for learners at a school and some parents have 2 kids, not only one.

    Please let me know.

    Thanks.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

How exactly are you setting up the form so that someone can submit it multiple times?

You need to collect the error message that is sent to you by email when WordPress detects the problem. Provide the exact error message, that should help figure out what’s going wrong.

    Hi,

Okay, so by twice I mean there is a new learner and a current learner form, so if the user submits the new user form and go back to the main page and submit the new learner form again their getting this error : https://lollapot.co.za/errors/form.JPG

You can submit the form yourself and see, I will just delete it on my side.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Ah what I see now is that my entry is still there I can just edit it, I’m not able to add a new learner.

    Please le me know.

When WordPress detects a critical error it sends you an email with the php error statement. This is what we need to see.

How does the user get back to the registration form after submitting?

    Hi,

Where should I get that report, then I will send it to you.

Two why’s the user does it, either goes back (and refresh) or once the form has been submitted, ho back to the main page and click on new learner again.

    Thanks.

The report is emailed to the site administrator.

Sending them back to the form to re-register will work fine, using the back button to a page with a form can cause problems because the browser will load a cached version of the page.

It’s helpful to add a well-labeled button with a link back to the form if they need to submit another registration so they won’t use the browser back button.

    Hi,

I’m the site admin and never got any mails, where can I get / access it? Then I can forward it to you.

Also, something else I picked up is, mails are sent intermittently once a user submitted the form, checked with my host and couldn’t find any issues.

Isn’t there like a cache clearing plugin that I can make use of as people are un-educated, they don’t always read and follow steps.

    Thanks

The caching I’m talking about is in the browser, you have little control over it. Just take steps to encourage your users to not use the back button in order to submit a new registration.

To take a closer look at email issues like this, I suggest you install an email logging plugin. That way you can tell if an email that was not recieved was actually sent or not. The email log will also give you a way to resend the email if needed.

Also, the plugin debugger will log outgoing emails, but its a little harder to keep track of them that way.
