Can't switch back to default language

I actually I have 2 sites with the same problem:
https://www.techno-hse.com and https://www.hse-mag.com

There is something wrong with the link to the standard language.

Try it first with a default WP theme. Also try it without hiding the default language prefix.

you use the language switcher in the menu (Appearance – Menus – Language Switcher)?

If so, what is in the URL?

Language Switcher:

English link goes to – yoursite.com/en/ = correct

Italian link goes to = yoursite.com = NOT correct, this should be yoursite.com/it/
