Can't switch from Visual to Text and can't add tags anymore

  • I just updated to 3.6.1 and a lot of my options have disappeared and/or are not working. The main ones are:
    1. Before when adding posts, I had a bunch of options I could use to add images, quotes, links etc. on top of the page – now they are all gone.
    2. The “add media” button does not work
    3. I can’t seem to add “tags” and when I press the link “choose from the most used tags”, it simply takes me to the top of the page.

  • Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies and cleared any caching on your site?

    Have you tried deactivating ALL plugins to see if any are causing problems? If that fixes things, reactivate them one by one to find the one causing problems

    If not, leave them all off and try switching to the twentythirteen theme to see if it’s a theme issue.

    Ok, tried clearing browser cache and cookies – nothing.
    Tried deactivating all plugins (16) and problems still persist.
    I am not sure how to switch themes…is that in the main page?

    Under Appearance > Themes – find twentythirteen and click Activate.

    If I activate it, do I get a chance to go back to the original? I think mine was customized (angelmorales.com) as it does not look like any of the ones offered there. I tried pre-viewing the twentythirteen but it completely changes the looks and navigation of the original…

    Yes, you can switch between themes without losing anything – though temporarily, yes, it changes how the site looks. But this is standard troubleshooting – to try to identify what’s causing the problem on your site.

    Switched it and the dashboard looked the same. I immediately switched back just in case. I had to turn my plug-ins back on as a lot of my links on the blog section of the site went missing.

    Any other ideas? Thanks for the feedback by the way…

    Tried again, and it is a theme issue. I am running “Thesis”. I have a friend helping with that as I am not familiar with it. Apparently my version is a 1.4.2 and there seems to be a newer one available (2.1). When switched to Twenty Thirteen, the issues went away.

    That’s good – I’ve heard their support is good, so I expect they’ll be able to help you get this updated and back to rights.
