Can`t switch to “Automatic” Mode + Traffic drops to zero with GA prior consent

    Hey guys,

    why can`t I switch to “automatic” mode in WP backend? It always switches back to “manual” mode.

    I came to that point, because I activated Prior Consent for the Plugin GA Google Analytics. Eventhough people can only accept Cookies, the traffic drops to almost zero. Thought Automatic could be a solution?

    Any idea?

    Hi Mark,

    That sounds strange.I suppose it isn’t a simple as forgetting to click the “Save changes” button after you switch from manual to automatic right?

    In the newest version of our plug in automatic should be the default option, I would recommend removing the Cookiebot plugin and installing the newest version.

    Google Analytics will always be affected by any Consent Management Solution (like Cookiebot). Since most people don’t submit their consent when they decide to “bounce”, and GA won’t be allowed to execute without consent, the bounce rate will likely drop to zero.
    The only way around this is to classify the cookie GA sets as necessary, in which case the automatic cookie blocking script will allow it to execute regardless of consent.
