Can’t test the free plan from test environment

Hi there!

Starting with the free version will try to connect your account to Jetpack in order to use the backend features. Is your test environment connected to internet? Even if the process might have not ended correctly, you should be able to see a “Jetpack” side menu entry with “My Jetpack” and “VideoPress” sub items.

Could you check if those are present? You might attempt a reconnection from those, otherwise here’s an article on how to check/solve Jetpack connection issues: https://jetpack.com/support/getting-started-with-jetpack/fixing-jetpack-connection-issues/

Indeed, this website is hidden behind an IP htaccess restriction. Would it explain why it doesn’t work?

Yes, that would explain why it is not working. You can try using Jetpack’s Development Mode to use only our features that do not require a connection to our systems: https://jetpack.com/support/development-mode/
